প্রায় ৩৪০৩ বর্গকিলোমিটার আয়তনের বরিশাল বিভাগের ভোলা জেলা হচ্ছে একটি দ্বীপ। জানা যায় ভোলাগাজী নামে এক বুজুর্গ ব্যক্তির নামে এ জেলার নামকরণ হয়েছে। ভোলার উত্তরে লক্ষীপুর ও বরিশাল জেলা, দক্ষিণে বঙ্গোপসাগর, পূর্বে লক্ষীপুর ও নোয়াখালী জেলা ও পশ্চিমে পটুয়াখালী এবং বরিশাল জেলা ও তেঁতুলিয়া নদী। মেঘনা তেঁতুলিয়া বিধৌত বঙ্গোপসাগরের উপকূলে জেগে ওঠা এ দ্বীপ সর্বত্রই প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দরযে ভরপুর। এ জেলার উপজেলাগুলো হল- ভোলা সদর, দৌলতখান, বোরহান উদ্দিন, তজমুদ্দিন, মনপুরা, লালমোহন ও চরফ্যাশন।

Bhola district of Barisal division with an area of about 3403 sq km is an island. It is known that the district was named after an old man named Bholagazi. Bhola is bounded on the north by Laxmipur and Barisal districts, on the south by the Bay of Bengal, on the east by Laxmipur and Noakhali districts and on the west by Patuakhali and Barisal districts and the Tentulia river. Meghna Tentulia This island, awake on the shores of the Bay of Bengal, is full of natural beauty everywhere. The upazilas of the district are Bhola Sadar, Daulatkhan, Borhan Uddin, Tajmuddin, Monpura, Lalmohan and Char Fashion.
