Sindurmati Dighi

 

Sindurmati Dighi in Panchagram union of Rajarhat upazila of the district is a place of pilgrimage for Hindus. It is said that a Hindu named Rajnarayan Chakraborty from Sinhala (Sri Lanka) dug a dighi in the hope of having children. It takes a long time to dig a huge tank. In the meantime, if he has two daughters, he will name them Sindur and Moti. But after digging the tank, it was seen that there was no water in it. On receiving the dream order, the king organized a puja in the middle of the excavated tank on the ninth day. But before the end of the puja, the water filled the tank and the two daughters of the king drowned. From then on, the name of this tank was Sindurmati. Spread over an area of ​​more than 16 acres, the tank was renovated by the government in 1975, and at the bottom of it are many ancient coins and valuable statues, which are now preserved in the National Museum.

Beparipara Shahi Mosque

 

An ancient three-domed mosque located at Mandal Para, four kilometers south-west of Rajarhat upazila in Kurigram district. The mosque, which has architectural features of the Sultanate and Mughal periods, is believed to have been built sometime between 1584-160.

 

The house of Naib Brajen Munshi, the zamindar of Ulipur, is located at Dharanibari, about seven kilometers northeast of Ulipur Upazila Sadar of the district. The inscription shows that the house was built in 180. The one-storey palace is currently being used as the tehsil office of Dharanibari Union.

Banga Sonahati Bridge

 

Bhurungamari Upazila 10 km from the district headquarters. Formerly a railway bridge over the Dudhkumar river in the Banga Senahat union. The British built the railway bridge as part of a railway line from Lalmonirhat to Gohata in India via Bhurungamari in 1861 for the movement of their troops and supplies. It was reformed after independence. At present it is being used as a common bridge.

Chandimandir

3 km of Ulipur upazila of the district. To the east are the ruins of an ancient temple at Dhamshreni. When the temple was destroyed in the earthquake of 1897, it was not renovated. It is said that the temple was built by Rani Satyavati Kartik, the zamindar of Baharband Pargana, during the reign of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb (1757-1706). Another new temple was built some time ago next to the ruins of the temple.

Dolmancha Mandir
Dolmancha is another ancient temple located at Dhamshreni in Ulipur upazila of the district. The temple, which is covered with the roots of a huge banyan tree, is now on the verge of destruction. The temple was also destroyed in the earthquake of 1857. There are also the ruins of several other ancient temples in the area that were extensively damaged in the same earthquake.
