দক্ষিণ-পূর্বাঞ্চলে অবস্থিত দেশের বাণিজ্যিক রাজধানী চট্রগ্রাম। বারো আউলিয়ার স্মৃতিধন্য চট্রগ্রামের পূর্ব নাম ইসলামাবাদ। তবে চট্রগ্রামের নামকরণ সম্পর্কে জানা যায়, আরবি শব্দ শাত বা বদ্বীপ ও গংগা শব্দ মিলে চট্রগ্রাম নামকরন হয়েছে। ৫২৮২ বর্গকিলোমিটার আয়তনের এ জেলার উত্তরে খাগড়াছড়ি এবং রাংগামাটি জেলা ও ভারতের ত্রিপুরা রাজ্য, দক্ষিণে কক্সবাজার জেলা, পূর্বে বান্দরবন, রাংগামাটি এবং ভারতের ত্রিপুরা রাজ্য, দক্ষিণে কক্সবাজার জেলা, পূর্বে বান্দরবান, রাংগামাটি ও খাগড়াছড়ি জেলা এবং পশ্চিমে নোয়াখালী জেলা এবং বংগোপসাগর। কর্ণফুলী, সাংগু ও হালদা এ জেলার প্রধান নদী।

Chittagong is the commercial capital of the country located in the southeast. The former name of Chittagong, reminiscent of Bara Auliya, is Islamabad. However, it is known that Chittagong was named after the Arabic word Shat or delta and Ganga. It covers an area of 5272 sq km and is bounded on the north by Khagrachhari and Rangamati districts and the state of Tripura in India, on the south by Coxs Bazar district, on the east by Bandarban, Rangamati and Tripura states of India, on the south by Coxs Bazar district, on the east by Bandarban, Rangamati and Khagrachhari districts and on the west. Karnafuli, Sangu and Halda are the main rivers of the district.
