রাজধানী ঢাকা থেকে প্রায় ১৪০ কিলোমিটার দূরে অবস্থিত জ়েলা কিশোরগঞ্জ| জানা যায়, কিশোরগঞ্জের বত্রিশ প্রামাণিক পরিবারের কৃষ্ণদাস প্রামাণিকের ষষ্ঠ পুত্র নন্দকিশোর কর্তৃ্ক প্রতিষ্ঠিত হাট বা গঞ্জ থেকেই কিশোরগঞ্জের নামকরন হয়েছে| প্রায় ২৬৮৮ বর্গকিলোমিটার আয়তনের এ জেলার উত্তরে ময়মনসিংহ ও নেত্রকোনা, দক্ষিণ-পশ্চিমে নরসিংদী, পূর্বে সুনামগঞ্জ ও হবিগঞ্জ এবং পশ্চিমে গাজীপুর জেলা| পুরোনো ব্রহ্মপুত্র্,মেঘনা, কালণী, ঘোড়াউতড়া, নরসুন্দা, ধনু, পিয়াইন প্র্রভৃতি কিশোরগঞ্জের মধ্য দিয়ে প্রবাহিত উল্লেখযোগ্য নদ-নদী| এ ছাড়া এ জেলায় বিস্তৃত এলাকাজুড়ে রয়েছে বেশ কয়েকটি হাওড়| বাজিতপুরে হাইমপুর হাওড়, অষ্টগ্রামে সোমাই হাওড়, মিঠামইনে বাড়ির হাওড় নিকলি-বাজিতপুর ও অষ্টগ্রামে তল্লার হাওড় এবং নিকলিতে আছে সুরমা বাউলার হাওড়|

Kishoreganj district is located at a distance of about 140 km from the capital Dhaka It is known that Kishoreganj got its name from the hat or ganj established by Nandakishore, the sixth son of Krishnadas Pramanik of Batrish Pramanik family of Kishoreganj. Mymensingh and Netrokona to the north, Narsingdi to the southwest, Sunamganj and Habiganj to the east and Gazipur districts to the west. Significant rivers flowing through Kishoreganj like old Brahmaputra, Meghna, Kalni, Ghorautra, Narsunda, Dhanu, Piain etc. Apart from this, there are several haors in a wide area of the district Haimpur Haor in Bajitpur, Somai Haor in Ashtagram, Bari Haor in Mithamain Nikli-Bajitpur and Tallar Haor in Ashtagram and Surma Baular Haor in Nikli. |
