কবি জীবনান্দ দাশ তাঁর কবিতার নায়িকা বনলতা সেন যাঁর আবাসভূমি নাটোর। ক্ষীণতোয়া নারদ নদীর তীরে অবস্থিত রাজশাহী বিভাগের একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ জেলা হচ্ছে এ নাটোর জেলা। এ জেলার উত্তরে নওগাঁ এবং বগুড়া জেলা, দক্ষিণে পাবনা ও কুষ্টিয়া জেলা, পূর্বে পাবনা ও সিরাজগঞ্জ জেলা এবং পশ্চিমে রাজশাহী জেলা। আত্রাই, বড়াল, নারদ এবং নন্দকুঁজা জেলার প্রধান নদী। প্রায় ১৮১৬ বর্গকিলোমিটার আয়তনের এ জেলায় উপজেলার হচ্ছে – নাটোর সদর, বাগাতিপাড় , বড়াইগ্রাম বড়াইগ্রাম, গুরুদাসপুর, লালপুর ও সিংড়া।

It is bounded by Naogaon and Bogra districts on the north, Pabna and Kushtia districts on the south, Pabna and Sirajganj districts on the east and Rajshahi district on the west. The main rivers of Atrai, Baral, Narad and Nandakunja districts. Natore Sadar, Bahatipara, Baraipara, Baraigram, Gurudaspur, Lalpur and Singra are the upazilas of this district covering an area of about 1818 sq km.
