ভারত সিমান্তবর্তী এ রংপুর বিভাগের জেলা হচ্ছে লালমনিরহাট, উত্তরের ভারতের কুচবিহার ও জলপাইগুঁড়ি জেলা, দক্ষিণে রংপুর জেলা, পূর্বে কুড়িগ্রাম ও পশ্চিমবঙ্গের কুচবিহার জেলা, পশ্চিমে নীলফামারী ও রংপুর জেলা, এ জেলার উল্লেখযোগ্য নদীগুলো হল- তিস্তা, ধরলা, সানিয়াজন। উপজেলাগুলো হচ্ছে-লালমনিরহাট সদর, আদিতমারী, হাতীবান্ধা, কালীগঞ্জ এবং পাটগ্রাম।
