Atiya Mosque

 

Atia Mosque is located in Atia vill age of Delduar upazila, about six kilometers south of Tangail town. This mosque is made of red brick on the east bank of the river Lohajang. At one time there was a picture of Atiya Mosque on a 10 taka note. The main square mosque has a dome. There is also a relatively small rectangular verandah with three domes on the east side. There are three ornate mihrabs on the Qibla-facing wall of the mosque. The east and north walls have nice terracotta designs.


The construction period of Atiya Mosque with Sultanate and Mughal architectural features is 1019 AH or 1610-11 AD. This information is obtained from an inscription of the mosque preserved in the National Museum. It is known that Saeed Khan Panni, son of Bayazid Khan Panni, one of the landlords of Tangail during the reign of Emperor Jahangir, built this mosque in honor of the saint Shah Baba Kashmiri. The builder dug a large pond next to the mosque that still exists. The mosque was renovated twice in 1838 and 1909. Atia Mosque is a protected structure under the Archaeological Department of the Government of Bangladesh.

Bharateshwari Homes
 

Girls residential school located at Mirzapur. Founder of Ranadaprasad Saha (RP Saha) known as Danbir. It is known as a good educational institution in Tangail and the country. Especially in the parade that is held at the National Stadium on Victory Day, the physical technique of the girls of Bharateshwari Homes is highly appreciated. Kumudini Hospital is nearby. It was also founded by RP Saha. In March 1971, this great social worker and giant was killed by the Pakistani army.

 

Mahera Zamindarbari is located four kilometers south of the highway just a few kilometers away from Pakulla towards Tangail. A police training center has been set up in the house. On the way, its signboard can be seen on the right side of the road. The old zamindar house may be in very good condition as it has become a police training center. There are three palace buildings standing side by side next to a huge tank called Bishakha Sagar.

In addition, there are several other installations, including the temple. There are three picturesque buildings in a row in front of the huge courtyard. To the right of all is Chowdhury Lodge, to the middle is Ananda Lodge and to the left is Maharaja Lodge. There is a lion door at the entrance of each building. A little further back is another picturesque building called Kalicharan Lodge. However, it is smaller than the front three. There is a beautiful temple next to Kalicharan Lodge. There is no entrance fee to see this place. However, the house is now called the Police Training Academy and you have to enter the main gate with permission. The authorities here are quite cooperative with the tourists.

Kortia Zamindarbari

The house of Zamindar Wazed Ali Khan Panni is located in Kortia, about eight kilometers east of the district town. The house is about one kilometer long and half a kilometer wide. There are several parts inside the house. Such as: Rokeya Mahal, Dawood Mahal on the small side, Rani Pukur Ghat etc.

To the east of the main wall of the Kortia zamindar house is a three-domed mosque built in Mughal architecture.

Tomb of Maulana Bhasani
 


Next to the Santosh zamindar house is the tomb of public leader Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani. Born in Assam, then part of India, Bhasani spent most of his life in this contentment. There is a small museum next to it with photographs from different periods of his life and some used items. There is also a farming tractor given to Bhasani by Mao Zedong himself during his visit to China.

 

Nagarpur Zamindarbari
 

This zamindar house is located in Nagarpur upazila of the district and is built in a mixture of western and eastern architecture. The interior of the three-storey building is mostly made of white stone. Above all was the canal. Nagarpur Womens College has been established in this zamindar house.

Pakutia Zamindarbari
 

Pakutia zamindarbari is located in Ghatail upazila of the district. The three main buildings of this zamindar house are quite interesting. There is a Nat temple in front of the three. It is currently being used as the academic building of BGRC Degree College. There is a cantonment at Ghatail. The rural environment surrounded by rivers and canals will fascinate you.

Bangabandhu Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge

 

So far the longest bridge in Bangladesh. It was the 11th longest bridge in the world at the time of construction. The length of the bridge is 4.6 km and the width is 16.5 m. The distance of this bridge from Dhaka is 119 kilometers. As there are two railway stations on both sides of the bridge on the Tangail-Sirajganj road, one can take a local train to see the bridge and enjoy the beauty of the Jamuna at the same time. You can also cross the bridge by car. Walking on Bangabandhu Bridge is not allowed. You have to pay toll for the car.
