বাংলাদেশের দক্ষিণাঞ্চলের অন্যতম একটি জেলা পটুয়াখালী। প্রায় ৩২০৪ বর্গকিলোমিটার আয়তনের এ জেলার উত্তরে বরিশাল জেলা, দক্ষিণে বঙ্গোপসাগর, পূর্বে ভোলা জেলা, পশ্চিমে বরগুনা জেলা। আন্ধারমানিক, আগুনমুখা তেঁতুলিয়া, পায়রা, পটুয়াখালী, লোহালিয়া জেলার প্রধান নদী। উপজেলাগুলো হচ্ছে- পটুয়াখালী সদর, বাউফল, দশমিনা, গলাচিপা, কলাপাড়া এবং মির্জাগঞ্জ। দেশের অন্যতম আকর্ষণীয় পরযটন কেন্দ্র কুয়াকাটা, সমুদ্র সৈকত এ জেলাতেই ।

Patuakhali is one of the southern districts of Bangladesh. It covers an area of about 3204 sq km and is bounded on the north by Barisal district, on the south by the Bay of Bengal, on the east by Bhola district and on the west by Barguna district. Andharamanik, Agunmukha Tentulia, Payra, Patuakhali, Lohalia are the main rivers of the district. The upazilas are Patuakhali Sadar, Baufal, Dashmina, Galachipa, Kalapara and Mirzaganj. Kuakata is one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the country.
