ঐতিহাসিক প্রাচীন স্থাপনাসমৃদ্ধ ৩৬০ আউলিয়ার পুণ্যভূমি বাগেরহাট জেলা। ইউনেস্কো ঘোষিত বিশ্ব ঐতিহ্যের তালিকায় স্থান পাওয়া ষাট গম্বুজ মসজিদ ও সুন্দরবন এ জেলাতেই। জানা যায়, বাগানের আধিক্য থাকায় এ অঞ্চলের নাম হয় বাগেরহাট। আবার অন্য একটি মতে সুন্দরবনের প্রতিবেশী এ এলাকায় এক সময় প্রচুর বাঘের উৎপাত ছিল। তাই এলাকাটি পরিচিতি পায় বাগেরহাট নামে। প্রায় ৩৯৬০ বর্গকিলোমিটার জুড়ে অবস্থিত এ জেলার উত্তরে গোপালগঞ্জ ও নড়াইল জেলা, দক্ষিণে বঙ্গোপসাগর, পূর্বে গোপালগঞ্জ, পিরোজপুর ও বরগুনা এবং পশ্চিমে খুলনা জেলা। পশুর, মধুমতি, হরিণঘাটা, মংলা, বলেশ্বর, পানগুছি, দাঁড়টানা প্রভৃতি উল্লেখযোগ্য নদী। সন্তান।উপজেলা হচ্ছে-বাগেরহাট সদর, চিতলমারী ফকিরহাট, কচুয়া, মোল্লারহাট, মংলা, মোরেলগঞ্জ, রামপাল ও শরণখোলা।

Bagerhat district is the holy land of 360 auliyas rich in historical ancient installations. The 60-domed mosque and the Sundarbans, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are in the district. It is known that the name of this region is Bagerhat due to the abundance of gardens. According to another, there was once a large number of tigers in this area adjacent to the Sundarbans. That is why the area is known as Bagerhat. It covers an area of 3960 sq km and is bounded by Gopalganj and Narail districts on the north, Bay of Bengal on the south, Gopalganj, Pirojpur and Barguna on the east and Khulna district on the west. Notable rivers like Pashur, Madhumati, Haringhata, Mongla, Baleshwar, Panguchi, Dandartana etc. The upazilas are Bagerhat Sadar, Chitalmari Fakirhat, Kachua, Mollarhat, Mongla, Morelganj, Rampal and Sharankhola.
