Nilsagar

 

Nilsagar is located in Gorgram Union, about 14 km northwest of the district headquarters. During the reign of King Virat, there were innumerable cattle dens in Gorgram. It is rumored that he dug this tank in the 8th century to feed the cows. At that time it was called Virat Dighi or Binna Dighi. Dighi is about one kilometer long from north to south. After the independence of Bangladesh, its name was changed to Nilsagar. There is a Hindu temple on the east bank of the Dighi and the abode of a Muslim saint on the west bank. The artistic main entrance to the Dighi was established during the reign of King Virat. Every year on the full moon of the month of Baishakh, a fair is held on the banks of Nilsagar Dighi on the occasion of Baruni bath. Apart from this, a lot of guest birds gather in this water body in winter. There is a guest house of the district council in Nilsagar Dighi area. With the permission of the district administrator, there will be an opportunity to spend the night here.

Sugar Mosque

 

The Chini Mosque is a stylistic structure located at Syedpur in the district. Built in 175, the mosque has 243 Shankara marble stones. There are more than twenty five tons of porcelain pieces on the walls of the whole mosque. In addition to the main entrance, there are 28 small minarets above the mosque.
Syedpur once had a much higher status due to the Assam-Bengal Railway. During the British rule, a railway factory was established in the city for the construction and repair of railways. The large factory is still in operation, but the procession has decreased a lot. Another ancient structure of Syedpur city is Kellabari fort. The fort is located in the Kellabari field of the city.

Dharmagala Garh Dharmapala, built during the reign of Raja Dharmapala, is located on the east bank of the Charalkata river in Jaldhaka upazila, about 20 km from the district headquarters. Syedpur

 

Due to the Assam-Bengal Railway, Syedpur was once more popular. During the British rule, a railway factory was established in the city for the construction and repair of railways. The large factory is in operation, but the procession has decreased a lot. Kellabari fort is another ancient structure of Syedpur city. The fort is located in the Kellabari field of the city.

At the entrance of the district headquarters, the gate of the house is built in the style of a national memorial. This arch was built in the memory of Shaheed Canton Basar in the liberation war at Kalitala on the outskirts of the city.
Mainamati Fort
The fort is named after King Dharmapalas widow Shalika Mainamati and is located in Atibari village of Harinchara union in Jaldhaka upazila. The rectangular fort is surrounded by a boundary wall about eight feet wide and twelve feet high, about three thousand feet long. The fort is on the west bank of the Charalkata river.
Lessons of Harishchandra:
Harishchandras lesson in Khuntamara union of Jaldhaka upazila is the ruins of a walled palace. Five large boulders can be seen on top of a high mound with about one bigha of land.
